Welcome Aku
Two weeks ago, Aku, a rescued walrus calf, was transported from the Alaska Sea Life Center (ASLC) to SeaWorld Orlando. Aku will be joining our Wild Arctic family, which includes three walruses Garfield, Kaboodle and Ginger. Due to his age at the time of his rescue Aku was deemed non releasable by U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) and will need professional and expert care for the rest of his life.
Through our partnership with the ASLC, as well as our knowledge and expertise to care for walrus calves the decision was made for Aku to join our family. Not to mention, Ginger will be the perfect companion as they grow up together.
Stay tuned to our social channels as we continue to introduce you to Aku and Ginger!
