Walrus Calf Update #2

It's time for another update on our walrus calf. This week we are talking about swimming!

Our newest family member was born two months ago today! A lot has happened over the last two months and we can't wait to share it all with you.

Now that we are caring for this "little" (she's topping the scale at 167 pounds today, so needless to say she is not little anymore) bundle of joy we had the privilege of teaching her how to swim. Now you may ask, how do you teach a walrus to swim? The answer is simple, you suit up and jump in the water with her.

Instinctively walrus calves know how to swim, but it often comes down to comfort so when she first started having pool time we would jump in the water with her.
