Shark Appreciation Week

In celebration of Shark Appreciation Week, SeaWorld San Diego will offer a week of shark-themed experiences from July 27 through Aug. 1, honoring one of the ocean's most misunderstood and essential animals.

Guests can explore the all-new Shark Encounter, featuring one of the nation’s most immersive shark exhibits. Our special Shark Appreciation Week activations include up-close views of sharks, interactive talks with SeaWorld animal care experts, educational exhibits on shark behavior and conservation, photo opportunities, meet-and-greets with Sydney Shark, limited-time food and beverage offerings, exclusive merchandise, and ways to support shark conservation efforts.

Meet the Shark Experts

Go beyond the glass during daily Aquarist Talks inside the All-New Shark Encounter, where SeaWorld's animal care experts share fascinating shark facts, explain how they care for these incredible animals and answer guests' questions. It's a rare opportunity to hear firsthand why sharks play such a vital role in healthy ocean ecosystems.

Shark Up-Close Experience

Guests seeking an even closer encounter can elevate their visit with the Southern California’s only opportunity to safely feed sharks while enjoying an intimate behind-the-scenes look at their care. Participants will observe feeding practices, learn about shark behavior and diet, and discover the critical role sharks play in ocean ecosystems.

Meet Sydney Shark

Snap a fin-tastic family photo with Sydney Shark, one of SeaWorld's favorite characters. This limited-time meet-and-greet offers guests of all ages another fun way to celebrate Shark Appreciation Week.

Sip and Savor Into Shark Week

Guests 21 and older can raise a glass with the limited-time Shark Margarita, available for one week only during Shark Appreciation Week. It's the perfect way to toast a day filled with thrills, animal encounters and shark-themed fun. Guests can satisfy their appetite with limited-time shark-inspired treats, including the shark Churro! These jawsome snacks are the perfect complement to a day of family fun.

Sharks on Social

During the week, SeaWorld aquarists will be sharing interesting facts and characteristics about the variety of shark species at SeaWorld San Diego. When not in the park, guests can go on Facebook and Instagram and learn more about each shark.

Collect. Support. Conserve.

SeaWorld is committed to advancing shark conservation through education, research, and partnerships. Through its park experiences, the SeaWorld Conservation Fund, and participation in the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ SAFE (Saving Animals From Extinction) program, SeaWorld helps inspire future conservationists and support threatened shark species. To date, the SeaWorld Conservation Fund has contributed over $300,000 to shark research and conservation projects, with a portion of shark and rescue-themed merchandise sales further supporting these efforts.
