Every day is World Oceans Day at SeaWorld. For more than 60 years, SeaWorld has helped preserve the world’s oceans and protect the extraordinary animals that live in them. We work year-round to advance marine conservation in and outside our parks through science, education and exceptional animal care.

Join us on June 8th for the United Nations World Oceans Day and make a difference! A portion of your ticket and in-park purchases directly support vital conservation efforts—so you can explore, learn, and help protect our planet’s waters while having an unforgettable experience.

Marine Conservation Through Art

For the first time, SeaWorld San Diego has teamed up with The Salvation Army to bring attention to the critical issue of ocean pollution through a powerful, student-led mural installation, which will debut at Dolphin Stadium on World Oceans Day at 10:15 A.M.

In collaboration with Otis College of Art and Design and Santa Monica College, this initiative transforms end-of-life textiles into large-scale, ocean-themed murals—blending sustainability, education, and creativity. Follow along @SeaWorldSanDiego to watch as these incredible art students create these powerful murals.

Sustainable Art with Purpose

Unveiled on World Oceans Day, these striking murals will be on display for an extended period at Wild Arctic and Dolphin stadium, serving as symbols of the beauty and fragility of our oceans. Crafted entirely from discarded textiles donated to The Salvation Army Family Stores, the artwork represents the urgent need for sustainable solutions in a world where 92 million tons of textile waste are produced annually.

With approximately 60% of new clothing made from synthetic materials—essentially plastics—much of this waste ends up polluting our oceans or clogging landfills. These murals not only highlight that issue but also demonstrate the creative potential of reuse.

Supporting Second Chances

Every donation and purchase at The Salvation Army Family Stores helps fund Adult Rehabilitation Centers (ARCs), which offer individuals battling addiction and other life challenges a fresh start. By supporting this project, SeaWorld San Diego and The Salvation Army are showing that transformation—of materials and lives—is possible.

More Than Art. A Movement.

As part of the collaboration, SeaWorld is also hosting a one-day clothing drive at the park on World Oceans Day, June 8 from 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Guests can directly affect change by bringing clean, gently used, and new clothing to place in the Salvation Army truck located near the park entrance. The clothes will be distributed to Salvation Army Thrift Stores and Donations Centers in San Diego and Los Angeles County.
