The first-ever SeaWorld opened its doors on March 21, 1964 right here in San Diego- and to commemorate that day, we’re celebrating in a major way!
To kick off our year-long 60th Anniversary celebration (starting in May) SeaWorld San Diego will pay homage to the first SeaWorld Park, right here in our very own hometown, with a 4-day celebration.
Opening Ceremony
Join our Chief Park Operations Officer, Byron Surrett, as he cuts a celebratory cake and reflects upon the company’s 60 years. This ceremony will be held at park open each day March 21 – 24, and guests will receive a cupcake while supplies last.
Shamu & Crew Character Meet and Greet
For the first time in recent years, see Shamu & Crew together again and take a commemorative photo with them. Kids of all ages will love meeting Shamu, Coral the Dolphin, Sydney the Shark, Shivers the Polar Bear, Puck the Penguin, and Flip the Sea Lion at park open each day March 21 – 24!
Limited Edition Precious Moments Signing
Beloved giftware company Precious Moments has released a limited-edition figurine highlighting a memorable moment at SeaWorld titled “Sea a World of Wonder.” This figurine will only be available March 21 – 24, and only while supplies last. Precious Moments sculptor Hiko Maeda will be at Explorer’s Café all 4-days of our celebration, starting on March 21 at 3:00 p.m., to sign purchased figurines and meet fans.

All-New 60th Anniversary Merch
Get ready for limited edition retro-inspired merchandise items featuring the original SeaWorld logo! Purchase special t-shirts, loungewear, trading pins, home décor, umbrellas, and more to celebrate our anniversary. Pin collectors will also enjoy special anniversary pins as well as a new Classic Collection. PLUS, there will be an all-new, limited edition 60th Anniversary Loungefly backpack! This special merchandise will be sold throughout the park starting March 21.
All-New 60th Anniversary Food & Beverage
Join us starting March 21 as we release special food & beverage options, including the return of the beloved Shamu cookie, a blue velvet cake, a 60th Anniversary Burger, 60th Anniversary Donut, specialty cocktails, and a special 60th Anniversary IPA in partnership with Mike Hess Brewing. This new beer will be a spin on Mike Hess’s beloved West Coast IPA, with an expansion of the bright citrus, pine, and resin notes and more fruit characteristics.
