How to Plan Your Summer Night at SeaWorld
The best part of a summer day at SeaWorld San Diego might be that it doesn't end when the sun goes down. As the sky over Mission Bay shifts from gold to deep blue, the park keeps going, dolphins leaping under stage lights, orcas gliding through beams of color, and a drone show painting the night sky above the water. This year's lineup includes five new nighttime shows: Dolphins: Touch the Sky, Sea Lions Tonite, Deep Sea Disco, Light Up the Night at Orca Stadium, and the stunning Ocean of Dreams drone display.

There's plenty to do before the sun sets too. Daytime favorites like Orca Encounter and BMX Blast Powered by BODYARMOR run alongside new additions this summer, including Dolphin Adventures and The Wonders of North American Wildlife. But it's the run of evening shows that makes a summer night here feel different from a regular day at the park, so here's how to string them together for a full night out.
How to Plan Your Summer Night at SeaWorld
1. Dolphins: Touch the Sky

Start the evening at Dolphin Amphitheater as the sky turns orange. Touch the Sky is new this summer, and it pairs upbeat music and storytelling with the theater's pod of 18 dolphins. Because the dolphins rotate through each performance, no two shows play out quite the same way, so even repeat visitors tend to see something new.
Insider tip: Pair this show with a coaster like Arctic Rescue or Emperor right before or after. The adrenaline plus the golden-hour view makes for a strong opening to the night.

2. Sea Lions Tonite
Head to Sea Lion Amphitheater next for Sea Lions Tonite, a comedy show built around pop-culture bits and running jokes about the park itself. The material changes often, so it rewards guests who come back throughout the season, and Pass Members, in particular tend to catch the inside references. If you're just visiting for the day, it still works as a genuinely funny, family-friendly set in the tradition of Second City and The Groundlings.
Insider Tip: You might just spot our Park President, Tyler Carter who has been known to sub in for talent on occasion!
From here, follow the crowd over to Wild Arctic Stage, where a DJ keeps the energy going between shows with a set of feel-good summer music.

3. Deep Sea Disco
SkyTower Lawn turns into an open-air dance party for Deep Sea Disco, part of Summer Spectacular. Expect colored lights, a live DJ, and performers moving through the crowd, all set against the waterfront. It's less a formal show than a chance to cut loose for twenty minutes with everyone else in the park, and it's genuinely fun even if you're just watching from the edge of the lawn with a drink in hand.
Insider Tip: Deep Sea Disco has kids and adults alike busting out their best conga line — or reliving their Sweet Sixteen dance floor moves.

4. Light Up the Night
Orca Stadium hosts the night's emotional high point. Light Up the Night pairs the orcas' natural movements with lighting design and music, and the effect is more dramatic after dark than it is in daylight. It's the kind of show that's been part of a SeaWorld visit for generations, just reimagined for nighttime.
Insider tip: Arrive at least 20 to 30 minutes early for a seat with a clear view and sit closer to the front if you don't mind getting splashed.

5. Ocean of Dreams: Drone Display
Close out the night with hundreds of illuminated drones forming ocean-themed shapes over the water, timed to music and lighting effects. It's a fitting way to end a night built around the sea and telling the story of ocean conservation, and it's one of the few shows in the park you can watch from several different spots at once.
Insider tip: Good vantage points include Explorer's Café, Orca Stadium, and the walkway near the touch pools by the front of the park. Note that some areas may close temporarily for the drone show, so build in a few extra minutes to find your spot.
