Top 10 Kid Friendly Things To DoJune 29, 2017
If your kids are anything like my little one, he wants to do it all. He wants to see his favorite animals, check out all the shows and ride all the rides. Here’s my top 10 list for your family on the best things to do at SeaWorld Orlando this summer with your kids.
1. Check out our NEW shows
My kid and my husband were really blown away by the newest show SeaWorld and Bubble Legendary present POP. You'll also be inspired and entertained while watching Dolphin Days, where you will be introduced to each dolphin and their trainer.
Pro Tip: Sit towards the front of the theater at POP and your kids may be selected to be part of the show.
2. NEW Dolphin Nursery
Get closer than ever before to dolphin moms and their calves. My kid loves to watch the dolphins play through the new see-through walls, and ask the educator questions about the dolphins.
3. NEW Electric Ocean
Allow your kids to stay out late this summer and join the family-friendly glow party. Your family will be amazed by the cutting edge entertainment, state-of-the-art special effects and more. Conclude your night with our amazing fireworks finale, Ignite.
Pro Tip: Purchase a light-up Shark Tooth Lanyard, Bubble Wand or Equalizer Glasses, which activate in all the Party Zones and your family becomes part of the show.
4. Take them to new heights (and drops)
Shamu Express is the perfect first coaster experience for your young adventurer which is located right in Shamu’s Happy Harbor where you can find a variety of family rides. Depending on your child’s height, they might also be able to ride Journey to Atlantis.
Pro Tip: Make things a little easier with our Child Swap Program and take turns riding with your child. The first parent requests a child swap pass and the other parent brings that through the Quick Queue entrance. Please notify a ride operator prior to boarding the first time.
5. Up-Close Animal Connections
For the smallest to biggest animal-lovers in your family, animal habitats around the park are sure to excite. Here are my family's favorites:
- Touch and feed velvety rays at the Stingray Lagoon
- Feed and chat with social sea lions at Pacific Point Preserve
- Touch amazing sharks at Shark Shallows next to Wild Arctic
- Watch dolphins jump and play at Dolphin Cove
- Fall in love with peacefully munching "sea cows" at the Manatee Rescue & Rehabilitation Area.
Pro Tip: My kids actually didn’t mind touching the fish because they were able to feed stingrays, sea lions, seals and sharks with the 3 for $10 feeding tray.
6. Let them run (and climb)
A fan favorite in my household is the net area in Shamu’s Happy Harbor. Kids love to explore the towers, slides and net passageways.
7. Make it a “sweet” visit with a special treat
The cherry on a fun-filled day is – ICE CREAM. Be sure to try a Shamu® ice cream bar or visit our bakery or candy store for a large selection of yummy desserts.
Pro Tip: Consider purchasing a Snack Pack lanyard if you are staying late. You and your family will get to try a variety of menu items like a S’mores Belgian Waffle, tasty tostadas and salted caramel popcorn ice cream.
8. Fun-Tastic Sea Life Encounters
View hundreds of stingrays and fish at the Manta Aquarium or journey through an underwater viewing tunnel for a close-as-you-dare look at sharks at the Shark Encounter. Cool off in Wild Arctic® as you observe beluga whales, harbor seals, and a walrus or visit the penguins in the Antarctica exhibit. My kids love to stand on the floor aquarium at the Journey to Atlantis Aquarium spotting exotic sea life below.
9. Meet Shamu
Be on the lookout in the morning at the entrance plaza to meet Shamu and his friends. It’s the perfect moment to capture that priceless family photo.
10. Water Works
Give your kids a break from the heat in this water play area at Shamu's Happy Harbor, complete with water sprays, dumping bells and water guns.
Pro Tip: Bring a change of dry clothes for the rest of the day in the park.
